Science fun at Pitmedden

YOUNGSTERS at Pitmedden Primary spent Monday getting a taste for engineering and science, as Generation Science visited the school’s early stages to demonstrate how to build a land-yacht.

Teacher Jenna Johnston told the Times: “The principle is basically a yacht on wheels - it teaches the kids about measuring, construction, friction and forces - it covers heaps of different topics. It’s fun too, which keeps their attention.

“The class has previously designed cardboard wind turbines, so this ties in quite nicely with that they’ve done before.”
