A FORMER Tarves teacher has celebrated the launch of a self-authored book chronicling the history and stories of Tarves Primary School.

James Stott formally launched his book ‘Tarves School, 1911-2011’ on Sunday, commemorating both his time at the school, and the facility’s 100th anniversary in 2011. Mr Stott previously taught at the primary school for seven years.

The book includes photographs and interviews with past and present staff and pupils, as well as input from Tarves Heritage Group, who helped with the photographs.

Tarves Primary headmistress Heather Scott told the Times: “The idea came from the fact that it was the school’s centenary last year - it’s been a real project for Jim since had retired. He has searched through the school archives, and interviewed people who attended the school through the generations.”
