Ellon Burns Club hosted their annual supper recently with a top speaker headlining the event.
This year the club enjoyed the company of Professor David Purdie, described as ‘arguably the best after-dinner speaker of the moment’, who is widely praisedfor his delivery of the Immortal Memory.
The Burns supper, which was held at the town’s New Inn Hotel, began with the piping-in of the haggis by Gillian Merchant and the Address to the Haggis by Davies Taylor.
Featuring at the event was Chairman Charles Wolrige-Gordon, Councillor Sandy Duncan of Turriff and Cathy Fraser of Ellon Academy’s Drama department.
Former drama teacher, Laurence Young performed the poem, Tam O’Shanter, while club founder and President, Alan Cameron led the community singing, assisted by Morag Paton on the keyboards.
Guest soloist included the talented, local singer, Lorraine Clark take to the stage.
