An Ellon couple recently celebrated with their family as they reached their Emerald wedding anniversary last week.

Alexander and Laura Junor, better known as Sandy & Cissie, married 55 years ago on 14th June 1958 at Monquitter Church, Cuminestown after meeting at a dance at New Deer.

Sandy said: “We had met before but the dance was the beginning of the romance!”

Sandy worked on farms near New Deer, St Fergus and Foveran before the couple settled in Ellon 27 years ago.

Cissie said: “It doesn’t feel like we’ve been married 55 years, it has passed quickly”

Sandy and Cissie have four daughters - Kathleen, Sandra, Alison and Lorraine, and are proud grandparents to eight grandchildren.

The couple spend their time either tending their garden which has won many local awards, or looking after their younger grandchildren.

To celebrate their anniversary, their daughters and grandchildren treated them to a surprise afternoon tea with lots of yummy homemade cakes.

The Irish music fans are looking forward to further celebrating their Emerald anniversary when they holiday in Ireland later in the summer.
