Ellon and District Round Table and Ladies Circle are gearing up for a summer spectacular in Gordon Park, as they announced the date of the 2011 Ellon Gala.
Spokesman for Ellon Round Table Niall Webster told the Times that the event, scheduled for June 5, the day will feature something for everyone.
“Following on from the success of recent galas, this year we welcome the return of The Clan – Scotland’s cycle stunt team who wowed the huge crowds in 2009,” he said. “The Clan have recently been on TV, and have a new stunt rig for 2011 to perform bigger and more radical stunts.
“There will also be a chance for the audience (both young and old) to have a go, so we will be encouraging visitors to bring their own cycles!”
He added that visitors would enjoy a range of musical entertainments, sporting tournaments and stalls.
“There will be music from Bucksburn Academy Steel Band, Bloo Toon Community Radio playing music and compering, football (Ellon Primary School 5-a-side) and netball tournaments, as well as hot and cold food, stalls, rides and other attractions.
“There are still a few slots left for stalls, so enquiries are welcome,” he said.
2011 has been a busy year for Ellon and District Round Table, with a number of fund raising events undertaken and several new members welcomed. The group have donated in excess of £7,000 to local and national good causes, with a very popular Burns’ Ceilidh in January, Santa’s Sleigh, Charity Casinos, recent Amateur Boxing Night and, of course, last year’s Gala.
Later in 2011, Ellon will again host a Bonfire Night and Fireworks Display arranged by the Round Table.
Anyone interested in reserving a stall at the gala should contact Nic Poole on 01358 723342.
