Ellon’s McDonald Golf Club hosted a Burns Supper that was enjoyed by all.

The haggis was piped in by Charles Reid and ably carried in by club chef Darrall Mitchell.

Sandy Simpson addressed the haggis and later in the evening he recited Holy Willie’s Prayer, which was excellent.

Councillor Richard Thomson, co-leader of Aberdeenshire Council, gave an excellent Immortal Memory which he augmented by his wonderful fiddling.

Club captain Mitch Cabel proposed the Toast to the Lassies and he was quite kind to the ladies. Past Lady captain Amanda Farquhar gave an entertaining reply.

The evening concluded with those present having a sing-a-long to Burns’ most popular songs with Alison Young, director of music at Ellon Parish Church, providing the music.

The entire evening was ably compered by Moira Ironside, the club’s social convener.
