Ellon man, Wayne Baber, made a belated acceptance of his Provost’s Volunteer Award Certificate from local councillor Rob Merson on Friday.
The Provost’s Awards ceremony is held in tribute to the dedication of people across Aberdeenshire who give their own time to provide care, support or education for others or make improvements in their community.
Wayne was one of two local volunteers nominated by Councillor Merson for recognition by the Provost, but was unable to attend the ceremony to receive his certificate personally.
He said he was “very honoured and humbled”.
Wayne is currently working on his latest project, ‘The Gig on the Brig’, which is a Hogmanay celebration of music and entertainment.
The Hogmanay spectacular will be headlined by Terry McDermott, the Pitmedden man who won ‘The Voice USA’, and his new band, ‘The Bonfires’ – and the backing bands will include Jake Coghill and the Silver City Soul Revue.
Tickets, priced at £15.00 for adults and £5.00 for under-fourteens, are available from Costcutter, Cinnamon Fringe, Curves and the Buchan Hotel.
