An Ellon mum is preparing to take on the London Marathon following her recent appearance on television.
Personal trainer Vicki McFarlane will run the 26-mile marathon on Sunday, April 24 in aid of the Scottish SPCA.
This will be the first time Vicki has taken part in the London run although she has entered numerous other running events including marathons in Edinburgh and Inverness.
She said: “I am feeling excited about the event itself, the buzz on the day of any event is huge, this is going to be intensified by the size of the event.
“I am however feeling extremely nervous at the thought of all the training which needs to go into preparing for a marathon, that’s when all the hard work happens, the day itself is a celebration of all the hard work you have put in leading up to the day.”
Vicki will be running the marathon alone but will have support from her family as she explained: “My two children enjoy coming to watch the events I take part in and my five-year-old son often finishes a race alongside me, when he sees me coming he just takes off and wants to run to the finish line with me.
“My husband is fantastic, he researches the routes, knows exactly where we’ve to be, the best way to get there, what tubes we’ve to get on and off.
“I’m terrible with anything like this so I’m glad he will be with me to keep me right!”
Vicki recently featured in the ITV show Ninja Warrior UK on Saturday, December 31, where she took on TV’s toughest obstacle course.
