Past District Governor George Bernstan visited Ellon Rotary last week to present the Club with two major awards in recognition of their achievements during the past year.
Firstly he presented Ian Mackay, Past President of Ellon Rotary Club, with a citation which recognises the standard of excellence achieved by the Club members for their dedicated work on local and international projects and for their work supporting local charities and youth activities during his Presidential year of 2010-11.
Ellon Rotary also received the District 1010 Public Relations trophy, which was presented to Gary Macalister who was chairman of the MPRC committee. The main objectives of the Marketing Press Relations and Communication (MPRC) brief are to provide information to support the publishing of a topical and quality monthly Club Newsletter and to feed information to the Ellon Rotary webpage.
The members of the MPRC committee meet once a month to discuss items that can raise the profile of Ellon Rotary in the local community and in District 1010 and RIBI.
Ellon Rotary meets every Wednesday in the Station Hotel and a slot is given to a speaker. The MPRC committee members prepare a press release and photo for each speaker which helps to raise awareness about their organisation or charity group. Our communications network helps to maintain valuable links with Inner Wheel and also publicises events that are being organised by the local Club. The MPRC committee were responsible for establishing the display notice board at the shop entrance to Tesco and this keeps members of the public informed about Rotary events and achievements that support and improve our community.
Ian Mackay thanked all club members for their support that enabled the Club to achieve these prestigious awards. He also commented on the tireless work and endeavour of the MPRC committee.
