An Ellon club is appealing to the community to help support them in their latest venture.
Shelterbox charity, which was set up by Ellon Rotary and now a charity in itself, has released a national, public Syria Refugee Appeal.
The Rotary Club is supporting the task to send as many Shelterboxes as possible to those suffering inhumane conditions in refugee camps.
At the last club meeting, it was pledged to buy one Shelterbox, costing £600, to be sent at once and is inviting members of the public to join its members in raising further funds to support Shelterbox.
The shelterbox is a safe, secure and reliable way to support the refugees.
The box is essential family needs to survive in the immediate aftermath of a disaster.
Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but will usually include a disaster relief tent, blankets, groundsheets, water storage and filtration equipment, cooking utensils, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.
Over two million refugees have fled Syria and so far Shelterbox has sent aid to over four thousand families to Syria, Iraqi Kurdistan, Lebanon and Jordan. Many more thousands of people need help today.
