Ellon Rotary Club have presented another round of community grants to local organisations.

The first batch of this year’s awards were handed over on March 18.

The Community Grant Programme operates most years to support organisations within Ellon and surrounding communities.

Funding comes primarily from the annual golf tournament staged by Ellon Rotary at the McDonald Golf Club.

Apart from the entry fees and raffle a major proportion of the money raised comes from sponsorship by local businesses.

Without this generous business sponsorship the programme would not be viable in its present form.

Support for community is a major objective of the Rotary movement.

Members of every Rotary Club are active in helping the communities in which they live and work.

Distributing funds raised from our local community to good causes within the community is an excellent example of this policy in action.

A total of fourteen local organisations were supported in this year’s grant programme.

Last Wednesday’s recipients were:

Victoria Hall Trust £400; Tarves Amenity Group (£300); Ellon and District RBL Pipe Band (£300);

Ellon Meadows Girls Football Team (£250); Grampian Strikers (£400); Ellon Parish Church (£500).

Auchterellon Under 5s were also awarded a grant of £300 which will be presented at a later date.

1st Methlick Scout Group (£300), Ellon Christmas Lights (£300), Ellon Civic Pride (£500), Hatton Cruden School Enterprise Stars (£300), Ellon & District Art Group (£200), Ellon Rugby Club Junior Section (£300) and Tarves Heritage Project (£200).
