SOME of Ellon and District’s most talented young musicians gathered at Ellon Parish Church last weekend to participate in the Ellon Rotary Young Musician of the Year competition.
A feast of music was performed by young people aged 17 and under was enjoyed by a sizeable audience. The occasion was a heats round of the Rotary International Young Musician Competition run by Ellon Rotary Club. Subsequent rounds of the competition progress to District, Regional and National levels.
Eight competitors took part, and the winner of the instrumentalist section was Rachel Havlin and of the vocalist section Emily Ross, both from Ellon Primary School. The girls will now progress to the District final in March. The judges were Rotarian Norman Cooper and Mr Alistair Macdonald, who gave constructive criticism.
