Local residents are invited along to a meeting next week to discuss plans for a skateboard park in Ellon.

There has been a number of calls for a skateboard park in Ellon over the last few years, however nothing has ever come to fruition.

A meeting will take place on Wednesday, August 9 at 6.30pm in Community Room 2, Ellon Community Campus, with the intention of forming a group to decide on scope for a project and possible locations.

When a project groups is formed, they would receive Council support to create plans and raise funds to build a facility in the town.

Local Councillor and Chair of the Formartine Area Committee, Isobel Davidson, said: "This is a really exciting opportunity for Ellon and I hope that people of all ages come along to get involved in a skateboard project.

"There could be scope for associated projects such as a bike track and other cycling facilities but it needs input from local folk to decide what Is best for the town."

Anyone who is interested but unable to come to the meeting is welcome to contact cllr Davidson by emailing cllr.i.davidson@aberdeenshire.gov.uk
