Costcutter in Ellon has beaten off strong competition to be named Best Large Convenience Store at national industry awards.

Derek Ritchie, who has owned and run Costcutter for more than 15 years, received the accolade at the Convenience Retail Awards run by trade magazines Convenience Store and The Grocer.

Mr Ritchie and his team were commended for their commitment to service, including introducing free deliveries and having an impressive product range, stocking a wide range of locally sources produce.

The store, which recently underwent a significant refurbishment, last year raised more than £11,000 for local charities and this year has committed to help even more people through its Costcutter Local Pride initiative.

Mr Ritchie said: “We are delighted to have won Best Large Convenience Store.

“This award is a testament to the commitment and hard work of the whole team here at Costcutter and our loyal customers whose feedback and input has helped us make the store the success it is today.

“ We are passionate about providing all our customers with exceptional service and being part of a close and supportive local community.”
