Calling litter pickers in Newburgh

A call has gone out in Newburgh for volunteer litter pickers.

The village currently has two volunteers operating under the auspices of ALI (Aberdeenshire Litter Initiative).

So far, more than 54 large sacks of litter have been collected form around Newburgh, including the foreshore and main road up to Waterside Bridge.

Volunteer Glen Douglas said: “This together with the dedicated “Nicer Newburgh” group has greatly enhanced the village.

“We have applied for additional dog, and litter bins, and a new bin is being installed at the bottom of Insch Road for both dog waste and general litter.

“We could do with another couple of volunteer litter pickers to cover more of the village, so if you have a couple of hours to spare to keep your part of the village

clear, then get in touch with us.”

Would-be volunteers can find out more by visiting green-butterfly.org.uk or contacting Glen on 01358 789761. Litter pickers and hi-viz vests are supplied.
