PLANS for a new development on the outskirts of Foveran have been unanimously backed by local councillors, following the Formartine Area Committee meeting on Tuesday.
Local members backed the scheme, which will see 28 houses - including four affordable units - constructed on the Western edge of the village. Representations against the development had included concerns about sewerage from the site, concerns about intrusions into the privacy of neighbouring householders, and fears that the village school would be unable to cope with many more new pupils.
Cllr Isobel Davidson raised concerns about the low number of affordable units included in the proposals, however was informed that this was the number which had been negotiated by Corporate Services. Cllr Anne Robertson agreed, and asked that a report be made concerning the mechanisms used to arrive at the low numbers.
Cllrs Davidson, Merson and Storr were in agreement that the development should go ahead.
