Foveran School in beach litter-pick

PUPILS from Foveran School took part in a litter clear-up at Newburgh Beach at the weekend.

They were helped by members of staff and parents as part of the school’s effort to achieve Green Flag status.

Head teacher David Williams told the Times they had managed to gather a trailer full of debris.

He said: “It was surprising what was gathered up. The litter included a gear stick and steering wheel and there was also some fishing debris.

“The clean-up was organised by the school’s eco group and 25 of our 38 pupils took part. Parents and some members of staff also helped out.”

Mr Williams added that further litter picks, possibly in Foveran and Ellon, may be organised.
