COMMUNITY councillors in Ellon received a presentation from developer Knight Frank on Monday, concerning the proposed new industrial development at Balmacassie.
Gary Purves, representing Knight Frank, told the Community Council that the proposals at the site would primarily cater to industrial and office developments, with ‘signature’ architecture in keeping with the project’s place on the Energetica corridor.
In a short presentation to the community council, he added that consideration was being given to the development being powered with renewables, and the possibility of on-site wind turbines.
Community Councillor Steve Owen asked whether there was any possibility that the site could attract international companies such as McDonalds or Burger King, or whether there was any possibility that a cinema might be built at the site. Mr Purves answered that although the site was set to be devoted primarily to industrial development, that there was scope for leisure outlets if there was demand for such services and a market response.
Concerns were raised by councillors regarding proposals for a travellers’ halting site as part of the development, with Mr Purves noting that Knight Frank had received negative feedback on the proposals.
“99% of the responses we received at our last consultation were not particularly happy,” he said.
