Inverurie’s Town Centre received a boost of colour last week, when new planters appeared on the High Street, Market Place and next to the Library.
The new planters have been provided by the local business community, the plants by the Council and are maintained by the Inverurie Environmental Improvement Group.
As was reported in last week’s Herald, the Inverurie Environmental Improvement Group would like to remind gardeners in the Inverurie and Port Elphinstone area that the closing date for entries to the Inverurie Garden Competition is fast approaching. The date for entries to be in is Friday, July 25.
IEI chairman John Glover said: “The competition is for gardens which can be seen from the road or other publicly accessible places. The IEI committee hope that all categories will attract new entries this year. We are particularly pleased with the level of interest in the non-commercial premises category which includes care homes, sheltered housing, day-care centres, hospital gardens, social clubs and bowling clubs etc. It is great to see voluntary groups getting involved in horticultural activities to the benefit of their own wellbeing and the local environment”.
