Volunteers at Ellon’s Victoria Hall were thrilled to screen their first full day of films using their new cinema projector.

The new projector was installed last month and on Sunday, August 30, the projector debuted its first film ‘Minions’, which attracted a good turnout.

Volunteers at the Ellon Cinema described the first screening as an equipment proving exercise and are pleased that the audience had thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Last Sunday, the cinema was able to offer its routine programme of two different films in one day using the new equipment.

The afternoon showing of Inside Out proved to be very popular and volunteers were delighted to hear audience members commenting on the quality of the picture and sound as they left.

However, the evening screening of BoyChoir was unfortunately not so well attended but was enjoyed by the audience nonetheless.

Commenting on the day’s events, Victoria Hall committee secretary, Keith Hart, told th etimes: “Now that we are getting used to how everything operates we are very pleased with the performance of the equipment installed, including that of the new acoustic enclosure on the balcony.

“It’s great not having to manhandle equipment up that stairway each time we show a film.

“In addition to having now probably the best image quality around we have tweaked the sound quality as well to further improve the clarity of speech.”

Following on from the installation of the projector, the Victoria Hall Committee is now looking to install new carpeting on the balcony and staircase next week before 29 cinema-style seats arrive later in the year.

Meanwhile, the next Ellon Cinema Day will take place on Sunday, October 4.

On this occasion Strange Magic will be shown at 3pm followed by The Man from U.N.C.L.E. at 6pm.
