Pitmedden’s First Responders have thanked a generous couple who donated the proceeds of their diamond anniversary to the charity.
Chairman Jim Young thanked guests of honour Albert and Alice Slessor, who collected donations in lieu of presents for their anniversary. Albert described the group as a “great asset to the community” as he and wife Alice handed over the cheque for £665.
Jim told the Times that the donation was a ‘huge’ help to the group, who are under constant financial pressure.
“The money will go a long way towards replacing consumable equipment we use, as well as funding the lease of our emergency vehicle. A lot fo our equipment needs to be replaced regularly, and it’s not often that we receive donations like this.
“We’d like to thank the Slessors for using this momentous occasion in their marriage to make this donation.”
