THE former Oldmeldrum railway station, which was dismantled and transported to Deeside during the summer months, is starting to take shape at its new home.

The station, constructed in the 1890s, was taken down in stages over the last year or so by volunteers from the Royal Deeside Railway Preservation Society (RDRPS) and moved to their base at Milton of Crathes near Banchory.

Work has been under way on the platform at Milton of Crathes to restore the historic structure

The station, which had lain empty in recent years, was used as an office and store, following the closure of the Oldmeldrum to Inverurie branch line in 1965.
