Visitors to the SNH Forvie National Nature Reserve at Collieston have the chance this month to see the winning images from the 2011 Scottish Nature Photography Awards.

The visitor centre is hosting the opening leg of the exhibition’s Scottish tour until June 28. The competition attracted more than 2000 entries from around the world from professional and amateur photographers keen to show the images they had taken of Scotland’s iconic landscape, wildlife and natural environment.

The exhibition includes the overall winner, Inverness-shire photographer Marcus Conway, who was awarded the title of Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year 2011 for his image, Cheeky Otter.

Also featured are the winners of the Under-18s category, including Junior Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year 2011, Alessandro Oggioni, 13, from Italy who impressed the judges with his picture of dolphins.

Reserve manager Annabel Drysdale said: “I am delighted to be hosting the Scottish Nature Photography Awards exhibition.

“With such great photography on display I hope that this will not only give visitors something extra to enjoy at Forvie, but help raise awareness of nature.”

The visitor centre is open daily 10am to 5pm and entry is free.
