THE countdown is well under way towards a popular North-east fundraising event.
The 10th Methlick May Walk will be held on Saturday, May 11, in aid of Methlick Parish Church.
It starts at the church at 10am and involves a scenic walk through Haddo Estate before returning to the church.
The full route is eight miles but there is a shorter option available. Sturdy footwear and a drink are advised for the walk - dogs are allowed on a lead.
One of the organisers, Katherine Storey, told the Times: “It’s the 10th Methlick May Walk and it is held in aid of church funds.
“It is something people look forward to and we would welcome anyone who wants to take part.
“We had up to 100 on the walk last year and there are many scenic views on the route.”
Organisers are introducing a photgraphic challenge competition for children this year.
A series of photographs will be handed out to youngsters at the start of the walk for them to identify locations on their map on the way round the route.
Katherine said: “It will be a great incentive to encourage children to walk round the route and there will of course be prizes to be won.”
Methlick minister the Rev Matt Canlis and his family will be taking part in the event for the last time.
He and his family are due to return to the USA in June.
