A local councillor has said it’s “great news” that work is to start on resurfacing Balmacassie Business Park road.
Ellon and District Councillor Gillian Owen had been campaigning for the road to be resurfaced. Brewdog has made a request for gas to be installed in the park and the road should be resurfaced once it’s finished.
Councillor Owen said: “I am delighted that the date of the gas installation is scheduled for September 2013 in Balmacassie. I met with Allan Whyte, Head of Property and Facilities Management for Aberdeenshire Council and he confirmed that this was being done and when complete the top surface should then be added.
Mrs Owen added: “There was no need to leave such terrible craters in that stretch of road.
“Once the recycle centre opened and residents had no alternative but to travel on the inadequate surface the developer should have ensured that the road was fit for purpose.
“The Business Park is a valuable asset to Ellon and I am only sorry that the tenants who have set up there have had to endure the disgraceful road surface for so long. This means that finally we have light at the end of the tunnel, I look forward to a smooth drive along that road to do my recycling.”
