AUDIENCES in Inverurie will be treated to a slice of American High School life later this month when the Garioch Youth Musical Society put on a production of the musical “13”.

It is a high-energy show which tells the story of Evan Goldman who moves from a big city to a new school in the Midwest just before his 13th birthday, his struggle with the “in-crowd” and charts his efforts to make an impression on his classmates and his discovery that “cool” can be found where you want it. The musical premiered in Los Angeles in 2007, and has played on Broadway.

Director Jessica Stuart said, “This is shaping up to be a great event. “13” features cheerleaders, nerds and romance. The young cast is working hard and enjoying the catchy songs and dance routines.”

The GYMS company is made up of people aged 10 to 17 from the Garioch area, from Alford to Oldmeldrum.

“13” will be showing at 7.30pm on Friday, February 22, and Saturday, February 23 at Inverurie Town Hall. Tickets are available online at www.inverurieboxoffice.co.uk or on the door.
