Haddo House Country Park is holding a day of celebrations this weekend to mark the first phase of a major regeneration and development project.

The celebration which takes place this Saturday, July 5, will see the Provost of Aberdeenshire Jill Webster officially cut the ribbon across the eye-catching golden gates at the centre of the park’s Scots Mile.

The regeneration project has been supported by a grant of £1.1million and voluntary commitment from the Friends of Haddo group and others which has seen the overall investment come to a whopping total of around £1.9million.

Visitor Services Officer at Haddo Country Park, Diana Spencer said: “We’re so excited to celebrate this relaunch of the park, and we’re really showcasing what we can do here. All our visitors have been following the developments in the new playground and I know many of them, even the adults, are really keen to finally try it out!”

Works already carried out include specialist conservation of monuments, structures, paths and plantings, a new visitor centre, improvements to the facilities at the Pheasantry, the main car park, new signage and furniture and youngsters will also be able to enjoy a brand new adventure playground.

Activities on Saturday run from 12pm to 4pm and include craft, sport and wildlife events and exciting new zorbing and Segway activities.

An Aberdeen Football Club player will also be at the event. Funds raised will be donated to Haddo Country Park for the upkeep, maintenance and development of the facility.
