An awareness campaign is under way to encourage people in the North-east to speak about their mental health.

Social care charity VSA and SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) on Monday launched “Open Up’, an initiative which invites people in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to talk, listen and connect as talking is regarded as one of the first steps to looking after mental health.

New figures from SAMH show that 98 per cent of people in ther North-east think mental health is as, or more important, than physical health. yet indications are that nearly a fifth (18 per cent) don’t take time to look after it.

The Open Up awareness campaign will run for the next month.
