A major gathering of the Inner Wheel took place in Ellon recently.

Around 110 members from across the UK met at the town’s New Inn to take part in Inner Wheel District 1’s annual rally.

District 1 comprises 28 Inner Wheel Clubs and stretches from Stirling in the South, to Inverness in the North and across to Skye in the West.

As well as representatives from the majority of these clubs, Ellon also welcomed Inner Wheelers from Ireland, Wales, England and southern Scotland and the association president, Mrs Thelma Pacsoo.

Ellon Inner Wheel had the honour of hosting this year’s rally because, for the first time in its history, one of the members, Mrs Marjorie Duncan, is chairman of District 1.

Inner Wheel is one of the largest women’s service organisations in the world and its objectives are to promote true friendship, to encourage the ideals of personal service and to promote international understanding.

Members raise funds for local, national and international causes and participate in various acts of service in the spirit of fun and friendship.

Ellon Inner Wheel members will held a meeting at the Station Hotel on Monday (June 15) when donations from the club’s charities account will be presented to variious recipients.
