A brand new book by Aberdeen author and playwright Mike Gibb will receive its official launch in Inverurie this week.
And although copies of “Anna’s Adventures In Wonderland” have already been shipped off to America, Australia, Portugal and several other countries, the official launch will be held in Inverurie on Saturday 1 November at the Cat Protection League Christmas Fair in the Town Hall that takes place from 1-4pm.
A funny and silly re-working of the Alice story, with Mike’s Labrador Anna in the eponymous role, the book, beautifully illustrated by Oldmeldrum baaed graphic artist David Stout, will appeal to children aged 5 to 95. In the book, Anna on her travels meets the rapping July Hare, the decidedly ungrinning Yorkshire Cat, the football obsessed Aberdeen twins Tweedledon and Tweedledee, a Queen infatuated with One Direction and many more strange characters.
Priced at £4.99 it will make the ideal Christmas stocking filler with all proceeds going to the Scottish Charity Friends of Bianca. Mike will be on hand on Saturday to sign copies and add dedications.
This is Mike’s fifth book on canine themes, following on from the likes of “It’s A Dawgs Life” and “How To Train Your Owner”, while his theatre works include the likes of “Mother of All the Peoples”, “Clarinda”, “Doorways in Drumorty” and “Lest We Forget”, written to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Piper Alpha Disaster.
The book will also be on sale at a number of other fairs during November and December or can be ordered from the Friends of Bianca charity by email firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 07903 463163.
