AN ELLON man – affectionately known as “Jim the Biscuit” throughout the North-east and further afield – has celebrated his 75th birthday in style.

Jim Tulloch spent 46 years working for the former Simmers of Hatton, driving the company’s trademark van to represent and promote their products at shows and gatherings across the UK, including
Earl’s Court in London. He likes nothing better than to recall stories about visits
to shows, fetes, Highland gatherings
and meetings with royalty. Simmers made cakes for royal weddings and a host of other important events.

At the weekend, Jim held a birthday celebration at Ellon Bowling Club and donations by guests totalled
£736, which he has forwarded to the Maggie Appeal.

The retired driver acquired the nickname “Jim the Biscuit” during his travels up and down the country. Nowadays Jim spends much of his time playing bowls or is out and about in his motorhome accompanied by dog Mac.
