An Ellon charity have recently received a generous donation of over £1500.

Gordon Friends of CHAS were presented with the cheque at their latest meeting at the Station Hotel on Monday, March 24.

The £1510 raised came from an auction and collections held at the annual Esslemont Farms dance held at the Station Hotel in February.

Over 100 guests, including friends, neighbours and representatives of local farming businesses attended the 32nd Esslemont Farm Dance.

The party danced the night away to local band - Country Edition - who kept the dance floor full with a wide variety of music.

Local auctioneer John Angus providing the gavel on the night.

Organiser George Chalmers said: “A great night was had by all with many local companies and individuals helping make the night a great success.”

Auction items sold included weekend breaks for two at various hotels, many model tractors, tickets for the Jacobite Steam railway as well as many smaller objects.

George and Esme Chalmers of Esslemont Farms have been keen supporters of CHAS for many years now and were delighted to be able to donate such as significant sum to the charity.

Charity spokesman, David Crosley said: “George and Esme have also promoted the sale of jams and chutneys in their farm shop with the proceeds again going to CHAS. We look forward to continuing to work closely with them.”
