A large crowd enjoyed last years Charity Darts Competition

Local ‘postie’ and champion charity fundraiser Graham Watson is again putting the finishing touches to his Annual Charity Darts Competition which will take place at the Hopeville Social Club, Inverurie on Saturday, May 24.

There will be both a men’s singles competition and also a ladies singles competition. Men’s entry is £8 and the winner will receive £250 and there will be money prizes paid right down to the losing Quarter-Finalists.

The ladies competition is £7 to enter and the winner will receive £160, and again there will be cash prizes being paid right down to the losing Quarter-Finalists.

Money for prizewinners has been generously covered by the sponsors. Main sponsors are GPH Builders Merchants Inverurie, other sponsors are Dougie Simpson, Sharon Leslie, Wayne Cumming (Painter), Brian Riach (Builder), Argent Training, Kendrick Plumbing, TWG Taxis, Hi-Fry Chip Shop, Kemnay Autobody, Y. Moir (Property Services), Ross Cook (Forestry Contractor), Garioch Kitchen, F & S Don (Property Maintenance), John Davidson Pipes and Aberdeen Darts Centre.

All money raised on the day will be going to the charity. There will also be a raffle and a silent Auction ongoing throughout the day.

The Hopeville Club has also laid on a band for some entertainment at night which is StoneyBroke entry to this is £3 for non-members of the Hopeville and £1 for members.

Graham commented “This event was only meant to be for one year to raise funds for a charity Convoy trip to Ukraine in 2006 for the Communication Workers Union Humanitarian Aid Charity but because of the success this is now the 9th competition and I would just like to thank all the sponsors over the years and the people who come along and support the event each year I really appreciate it.”
