Arnage pupils celebrate Peace Day in thought

Pupils from Arnage Primary School took part in International Peace Day.

ARNAGE Primary School P5-7 pupils celebrated International Peace Day on Friday by thinking about peace and what it means.

After discussing their thoughts, they listened to poems about peace and added further ideas. They then wrote their own poems, decorated them and made them into windmills – Pinwheels for Peace, before placing them in plant pots in the school grounds.

Head teacher Margaret Rattray said: “They will serve as a reminder to them all that peace is precious wherever you live in the world, and also that peace can start in the school playground.

“The pupils researched charities which work with children to promote peace and understanding.

“They decided that they would collect Pennies for Peace over the next few weeks and send them to the charity Children of Peace which works with children in Israel and Palestine.”
