Police are appealing for witnesses following a series of attempted thefts which occurred at residential properties in Aberdeenshire.
It follows on from an earlier appeal to members of the public to ‘lock it or lose’ it after a spate of similar incidents in the area, whereby unsecure vehicles and property was stolen from addresses across the area - particularly in Peterhead.
Now, a further 11 properties in Cruden Bay, Ellon and Balmedie have since been targeted by opportunistic thieves. The incidents occurred at around 2am on Tuesday, February 11.
Officers are keen to trace a dark-coloured Ford Mondeo car which was seen in the area at the time and have appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
Sergeant Mike Reynolds said: “I would again like to take this opportunity to remind residents to keep their cars and property secure and to be vigilant in doing so.
“Opportunistic thieves will target any property that is left unattended and therefore vulnerable to theft; nobody is immune to this type of crime.
“We are anxious to trace a dark-coloured Ford Mondeo car which was seen in the vicinity at the time of these incidents and would urge anybody who may have seen the vehicle or who has information to come forward.”
Anybody who has any information regarding the attempted thefts or who believes they may have seen the vehicle in question is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
