Award for three - decade Auchmacoy forester
A LONG-SERVING employee at the Auchmacoy Estate has celebrated thirty years in the job.
George Barclay, who works as a forester and ‘jack-of-all-trades’ on the estate was presented with awards from the estate itself, and from the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society in recognition of his long service. He was presented the estate’s award by owner Charles Buchan, and received the RHAS award from Christopher Shepherd.
Mr Barclay, who has lived and worked on the estate almost his entire life, began work straight after leaving school, and has served in the same position since then.
The presentation was followed by the estate’s annual Burns and Harvest supper, with current and former employees tucking into the traditional haggis, neeps and tatties, following an address from Stuart Presly of Oldmeldrum.
Estate secretary Sheila McIntosh said: “About 56 people came along, so we got a good turnout. We hold the supper every year, but this year’s event was extra special because of George’s award.”
