A North-east children’s charity has celebrated their first birthday with a special gift from one firm.

Charlie House has secured rent-free office space thanks to Maritime Assurance and Consulting (MAC).

The charity, which celebrated its first anniversary last weekend, was formed with the hope of providing a residential facility in Aberdeenshire to deliver care for children and youngsters with disabilities, complex health needs and life limiting conditions.

The £8 million appeal has drummed up massive support since its launch from individuals and businesses.

One of those firms offering their help was MAC, who have provided the charity with office space in their own headquarters in Aberdeen.

Charlie House chairwoman, Tracy Johnstone, said: “The support MAC has provided is incredible and everyone connected with the Charlie House appeal is very grateful.

“We are looking forward to putting our new home to good use as we drive forward with our plans for 2014.”

MAC managing director, Graeme Reid, said: “The Charlie House appeal has touched the hearts of so many people and we’re pleased to be able to play a part in what promises to be a very special journey for the committee and the charity’s supporters.”
