Police say they have received a “very positive” response from licensees in Formartine to an initiative targeting the use and supply of controlled drugs.
Officers from the area’s community policing team carried out an operation in licensed premises on Friday, December 13, and the following day.
They used drug-tracing equipment which allows them to identify controlled substances. Extra officers were also on patrol.
PC Richard Henderson, who is based at Turriff police office, said: “The response from local licensees was very positive over the weekend.
“This shows the responsible attitude from business owners who are eager to work with local officers in tackling this problem in their communities.”
Anyone with information about illegal drugs is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
