An Ellon pensioner remains in hospital after suffering serious burns in a fire in his home.
Charlie Brown, 71, was rescued by neighbours in the town’s Esslemont Circle just after 7am on Wednesday.
Stuart Wood, 24, spotted smoke and flames coming from Mr Brown’s kitchen window and found him wandering through the house on fire.
He led the elderly man to safety before grabbing an extinguisher from his shed and dousing the flames. He was assisted by other neighbours until paramedics arrived.
Mr Brown, who is understood to live alone, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he remains in a serious condition.
A joint police and fire investigation is continuing into the cause of the outbreak.
