Sixteen pupils from Ellon Primary School SFL unit, along with their teachers and Rotary helpers, experienced an enjoyable day out at SRUC Craibstone last Wednesday.

The annual KidsOut event is organised by 15 Rotary clubs based in Aberdeen City and Shire.

During the day, the pupils were involved in a diverse range of activities including face painting, pony and steam train rides, climbing frame and bouncy castles, rope walking assisted by Scouts, and handling small animals.

Representatives from Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service also allowed the children to inspect the cabs of their vehicles and operate the sirens.

During the day the youngsters mixed with nearly 600 children from 35 other support bases. When they arrived by bus they each received a goody bag and later they sat down to a sandwich lunch accompanied by juice and ice cream.

A Rotary helper said: “The children had a fantastic day and said a big thank you. It makes it all worthwhile when you hear their laughter and see the joy in their faces.”

The first Rotary KidsOut day took place in 1990 and has become a popular annual event.
