A GROUP of Ellon residents have condemned vandals after a late-night paint spree in their street.
Driveways of properties in the town’s Woodlands Edge were sprayed with paint and some vehicles were also damaged in the incidents last weekend.
Police have confirmed they are investigating the vandalism.
Woodlands Edge resident Jim Mortimer said the first he knew about the paint on his driveway was through a neighbour about 10am on Sunday.
Mr Mortimer, a mortgage and protection adviser, told the Times: “He said his drive had been touched and also his car, but he had managed to get it hosed off.
“The next house down, the back of a new car had been sprayed and they too had managed to get it washed off.
“I managed to hose the paint off my drive but it is really alarming that something like this should happen in what is quite a quiet area. It is worrying.”
Mr Mortimer, who immediately reported the vandalism to the police, added: “It could be that some drunks on a Saturday night have taken a short cut but there have been a number of vandalism incidents recently in the street and it is alarming.”
Another resident, who did not want to be named, said: “One woman recently got up to find mud all over her new car and mud has been thrown at the wall of a house. Garden ornaments have also been damaged in the area.”
A Grampian Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm we are investigating a vandalism and breach of the peace in Woodlands Edge, Ellon, last week.
“A private driveway and a white Honda CRV were apparently targeted with red paint overnight between Saturday 12 and Sunday January 13.
“We would appeal for anyone with information to contact us on 0845 600 5700, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
