Tickets go on sale today (Thursday) for Ellon’s Gig at the Brig 2014.

Details have just been announced for this year’s spectacular, including the headline act and main sponsor.

The town’s first Hogmanay street party attracted more than 2000 revellers and was rated a resounding success.

Headlining this time are pipe rock band and festival favourites The Dangleberries.

A band spokesman said: “What a privilege it is to come up to Aberdeenshire to headline Ellon’s celebrations, for what is THE up and coming New Year place to party.

“Hats off to the committee and volunteers who made last year’s inaugural event such a huge success, and who are set to make 2014/2015 even bigger.”

This year’s celebration has received a major financial boost from the introduction of a main event sponsor, Ellon and Aberdeen-based business J M Taylor.

The firm’s Jim Taylor said: “It is a privilege to be associated with the committee behind this worthwhile cause and I would encourage all other local businesses to also get behind the Gig at the Brig.”

An Ellon Events spokesman said a lot of hard work had gone into last year’s event and they were delighted with the outcome.

He added: We couldn’t wait to get started on this year’s event. We hope to repeat the success and attract an even bigger turn-out.”

The gig also has the support of global online event resource Your Event Scotland, who helped to secure the headline act.

Spokeswoman June Ross said: “The Dangleberries will undoubtedly compliment the rest of the acts, who are being chosen carefully to create a fantastic array of entertainment from the local area and beyond, creating an uplifting celebration to end 2014 and welcome in the New Year.”

Tickets will be available from the event web-site www.ellonevents.com with ‘early-bird’ savings available for a period.

Further acts will be announced in the near future.
