Flying the green flag at Tipperty
A proud day for Tipperty School as its receives its third Green Flag.
A small Aberdeenshire school is celebrating its third Green Flag award.
The accolade has gone to 26-pupil Tipperty School and is the top level of achievement in the Eco-Schools programme. Tipperty previously received the award in 2008 and 2010.
Head teacher Lorna Dawson said that the school’s effort had involved the local community.
She told the Times: “The children are all learning about green things, reusing and recycling. It’s really to encourage them to take care of their world.
“What we have done here is to involve the community. We have a herb garden which the community can use, we have planted pots for the community in the springtime and helped them in their gardens.
“We also do a lot of recycling, composting and litter picks. We are working towards success and achievement so this is a big success and achievement for us.”
