Heather Wallace is retiring in her 29th year of service at Peterhead & District Group Training and Peterhead Engineers Development Ltd.

She started work as a clerical assistant in 1985 at the King Street premises and has been a loyal and hardworking member of the training centre ever since.

Heather has seen many changes over the years and has seen around 1,000 engineering and administration trainees come through the training programme.

Always there to lend an understanding ear when trainees were struggling, she will be remembered affectionately.

Heather told us: “I have mixed feelings today but it will be fine to pass the role on to someone else to continue the good work here and take on this rewarding position.”

In recognition of her efforts, the ‘Heather Wallace Engineering Trainee of the Year Award’ has been created in her honour.

“This is a very unexpected surprise and it is an honour to have my name against something that will continue into the future,” she said. “I am just delighted with it, it is brilliant.”

Heather now plans to get some well earned exercise with the dog and spend more time with her family in Aberdeen.
