Householders offered free home insulation
Householders in Aberdeenshire have been given the chance to insulate their homes for free this winter.
Residents can get loft and cavity wall insulation installed for free by applying for the Scottish Government’s Universal Home Insulation Scheme (UHIS).
The multi-agency scheme will provide loft and cavity wall insulation to residents who want to make their homes more energy efficient and reduce energy consumption.
The initiative is being delivered by Aberdeenshire Council, in conjunction with SCARF (Save Energy and Reduce Fuel), and the Scottish Government.
Loft insulation and cavity wall insulation will help householders improve energy efficiency within their homes.
UHIS is a free service and is not means-tested, meaning all homeowners can apply.
The deadline for applications is Thursday, February 28, and the free loft and cavity wall insulation will be awarded on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
SCARF Chief Executive Billy Sloan said: “The Universal Home Insulation Scheme will give households the chance to install better insulation for free.
“With the recent rise in fuel prices, it is great that Aberdeenshire Council is offering free insulation to help reduce bills.
“I’d urge people to make the most of this offer while it is available.”
Anyone wanting to apply for free insulation should contact SCARF on 0844 8460551, or 01224 213005.
