The J G Ross team show off the awards won at the Grampian Food Forum Innovation Awards

Local family bakers, J G Ross of Inverurie struck gold at the Grampian Food Forum Innovation Awards held at the Marcliffe Hotel and Spa on Thursday (March 20).

The list of awards scooped by the local firm included:

• Best New Foodservice product for businesses with more than 25 employees with Angelic Range of Gluten Free Cookies

• The Skills Development Scotland Award for investing in skills development

• Grampian Food and Drink Entrepreneur of the year 2014 – Graeme Ross

In addition Pulsetta, which is manufactured in J G Ross’s dedicated free from site in Portsoy won

• Best Food Service under 25 employees for Pulsetta Breadcrumbs

• Best Young Business

Forming key partnerships and investing money with the support of Scottish Enterprise they reopened their Portsoy site as a Free From Site in 2013 which demonstrates their energy and commitment to their industry.

Graeme Ross says “We are absolute delighted to win so many awards across several categories. In 2013 we made a significant investment in our Portsoy bakery to develop it into a gluten free site and less than 12 months for two products made there (Angelic Gluten Free Cookies and Pulsetta Breadcrumbs) to win awards is fantastic.

“To win an award for investing in skills development is testimony to our staff and their appetite for learning, as well as for great butteries, and the support we receive from the Scottish Association of Master Bakers.

The Entrepreneur of the year award was the icing on the cake. Whilst we may be at the helm, the success of our business is thanks to all our staff passionately working hard to consistently deliver great products and service, to our loyal supplier base and our customers who truly embrace local qualify products and are a pleasure to work with and supply.
