Local riders do well at schools event

Local equestrian youngsters, who are all pupils at Robert Gordon’s College, did well recently at the annual Kilgraston Scottish Schools Championships.
The primary 7s comprising Caitlin and Lorena Duguid, both 12 and from Newmachar, Sadie Stephen (11) from Oldmeldrum and 11-year-old Lucy Matheson from Bieldside came 3rd overall and 3rd for their Show jumping. Sadie Stephen also received an individual 3rd for both dressage and show jumping.
Another team with Charlotte Meil and Sara Meil 16 and 18 respectively (both from Kintore), 17-year-old Katie Cumming from Oldmeldrum and 15 year old Andrew Manson (also Oldmeldrum) came sixth overall, and Andrew Manson won second place for his individual dressage.
Kilgraston is at the heart of schools equestrian events in Scotland which takes place at Gleneagles Equestrian Centre in Perthshire. Over 25 schools from across Scotland competed in team events with show jumping and dressage across Three age groups.
PE teacher, Stephanie Ker, said the young eventers represented the school extremely well and really enjoyed their day out.
