Villagers in Methlick rallied round to support a major fundraising event in aid of the local church tower appeal.

A free hog roast was held in the Beaton Hall on Saturday night with proceeds going to complete repairs to the tower.

Every home in the village received an invitation to the hog roast and residents were asked to bring or send a donation in an envelope.

The fundraiser was organised by Methlick minister the Rev Matt Canlis who said: “It was a great evening and it was supported by the whole parish”.

He will announce the amount raised from the event at this Sunday’s service.

An appeal has been launched to raise £35,000 by the end of the year to finish the work on the church.

A three-year timescale had been drawn up to raise the funds for the tower, but Christmas has now been set as the target for reaching the total.
