A group of lads from Meiklemill School picked up awards at their BB Open Evening recently.

Awards went to seven boys with another three who were absent on the night but who would also have picked up awards.

Deputy head teacher, Lorna Keith said: “Being that this is Commonwealth Games year, we have been focussing on ‘Commitment’ as a theme in school and during his visit, Clyde the official mascot of the Glasgow 2014 games inaugurated our new ‘Commonwealth Shield for Commitment’, which will be awarded at the end of term.

“We hope to instil in our pupils that in order to make progress and enjoy all that a sense of achievement brings, that commitment and perseverance are key factors.”

Some of the winners included Daniel Smith, Lewis Cantlay, Craig Morgan, Finlay Manson, Lewis Thores, Ryan Hanton and Alex Chalmers.
