Pupils show off Udny Green’s Fairtrade credentials
YOUNGSTERS at Udny Green showed off their global awareness to parents on Friday, with a special Fairtrade Café.
Representatives of the school’s Fairtrade Group, which includes pupils across age groups, hosted the café in the school’s assembly area, and gave parents the opportunity to sample Fairtrade banana flapjacks.
P1-3 teacher, and staff representatives on the Faitrade panel is Emma Gibb. She told the Times that she was hugely impressed with the pupils’ efforts.
She said: “The group organised the assembly, baked the goods, and raised the sponsorship locally - and they did it all, more or less, on their own initiative.
“The kids have been really great, writing a new policy for the school, making an action plan, and advertising our aims and objectives to the wider community.”
